10 years is a project where my mother and I attempted to blow dry my hair a swirlkous it. It has been 10 years since we have immigrated from south Africa, and it has also been ten years since we have done this process to my hair. Simply due to the fact that my elder sister bought a hair straighter, which at the time was very expensive to purchase in South Africa. this wrk aims t reflect colonial histories of hair in South Africa, and "taming" of it. This work in Combination with an imposter to her memories work to deconstruct the narrative which weaponised coloured bodies against each other and within ourselves
